What matters before you commission it?
Development begins with the environment specification: what changes during an episode, how the agent interacts with it, what constitutes correct behavior, and how every run is reset. Training integration comes after a reliable verifier.
Define the task distribution
Describe common cases, rare edge cases, and expected difficulty rather than relying on one golden example.
Build the execution harness
Expose tools, manage state, isolate permissions, record trajectories, and reset safely.
Prove the reward works
Run strong and weak baselines, intentionally bad actions, and repeated deterministic tests.
A polished interface cannot compensate for unreliable task resets or a reward function that can be gamed. Ask for reproducible test evidence in any development proposal.
Questions worth asking
What are typical deliverables?
A task specification, runnable environment, fixtures, tool schemas, verifier tests, documentation, and an evaluation report.
Can a development partner integrate with Verifiers or NeMo Gym?
Potentially, but confirm framework experience, version compatibility, and licensing in the scope.
Who does RLenvironment.ai employ?
RLenvironment.ai is an independent resource and enquiry intermediary. We do not claim to employ an in-house RL engineering team.
